Before you write in

How quickly will I hear back?

This is a small, independently-run project, so replies aren't instant — but every message is read, and we'll get back to you as soon as we can.

I think a tool gave me the wrong result — what should I include?

Let us know which tool, what you entered (if it's safe to share — never send us a real password), and what you expected to happen. That's the fastest way for us to track it down.

Can you help me personally if I've been scammed?

We're not a scam-recovery service and can't act on your behalf. Please use the country-specific contacts on our Adults & Seniors page — those are the organisations equipped to actually help.

What to get in touch about

We read everything that comes in. The messages that are most useful to us, roughly in order:

What we cannot help with

We want to be clear about this, because being vague would waste your time at a moment when time matters.

We are not a scam recovery service. We cannot recover money, trace an account, contact a fraudster, or act on your behalf. If money has gone, the first and most time-sensitive step is to call your bank's fraud team, then report it to the agency for your country listed on our reporting page. Our first 24 hours checklist sets out the whole sequence.

We cannot investigate an individual. We do not check whether a specific person is real, look into a profile, or verify a company on request.

We cannot access, repair or examine your accounts or devices. Nobody from this site will ever contact you asking for remote access, a password, or a one-time code — and if somebody claims to be us and does, that is itself a scam.

Please never send us a password. Not a real one, not a partial one, not to demonstrate a problem with the strength checker. Describe the shape of it instead: how long, what kind of characters, whether it contained a word.

How to make a report we can act on

For a problem with a tool, the most useful message includes: which page, what you did, what happened, what you expected, and which browser and device you were using. A screenshot helps more than a description. If the tool gave a result you disagree with, tell us what you entered — as long as it is not a real password or any personal detail.

For a correction to an article, quote the sentence you think is wrong and tell us why. If you have a link to current official guidance that contradicts it, include that; it speeds things up considerably.

Response times, honestly

This is a small independent project rather than a company with a support desk. Every message is read, and we reply to most within a few days. Reports of a broken tool or an out-of-date reporting contact get looked at first, because those affect everyone who visits.

If your message is urgent because money is moving right now, do not wait for us. Call your bank. That is the step where speed genuinely changes the outcome, and no reply from us would be as useful.

Privacy of what you send

Emails you send us are used to answer you and to fix whatever you have reported. We do not add you to a mailing list, we do not sell or share contact details, and we delete correspondence once the matter is closed unless it forms part of a record of a correction. If you would rather report something without identifying yourself, send it from an address that is not linked to you — we would rather have the information anonymously than not at all.

Frequently asked questions

How quickly will I get a reply?

Usually within a few days. Reports of broken tools or out-of-date reporting contacts are prioritised because they affect every visitor. If money is moving right now, contact your bank rather than waiting for us.

Can you help me get my money back?

No. We are not a recovery service and cannot act on your behalf. Call your bank's fraud team first, then report it to the agency for your country listed on our Report a Scam page.

Should I include my password when reporting a problem with a tool?

Never. Describe the shape of it instead — how long, what kinds of characters, whether it contained a dictionary word. That is enough for us to reproduce the issue.

I found a mistake in an article. Will you fix it?

Yes, and we would rather hear it than not. Quote the sentence and tell us why it is wrong. Substantive corrections are made to the page and the review date is updated.

Will you ever contact me asking for a password or a code?

No, under any circumstances. Anyone claiming to be from this site and asking for a password, a one-time code or remote access to your device is attempting to scam you.
